Things you should know before your first visit to Women’s Specialists of New Mexico

  • Please plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to your first visit so you can complete the paperwork. Be sure to bring your current insurance card.
  • You will be asked to show your insurance card to all subsequent visits, even if your coverage hasn’t changed so we can make certain we have the correct information on file.
  • Most first time patients will be seen by one of our midlevel providers; a Nurse-Midwife, Nurse Practitioner or Physician’s Assistant, all of whom are certified medical providers and who are specialists in women-centered care. If your condition is one that requires a physician, you will be referred to one of our doctors for a subsequent appointment.
  • If you must change or cancel an appointment, please do so at least 24 hours before your appointment or you will be charged $50. We have reserved this appointment time just for you and it is not fair to the other patients waiting for an appointment if you fail to show up, so please be respectful of our time and give us plenty of notice.
  • Once you are an established patient, if you have a medical question during business hours, WSNM has a group of Triage Nurses who are available to provide medical advice with telephone calls.
