Job Title: Certified Nurse Midwife         

Summary of Position Description:

Women’s Specialists of New Mexico currently has an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Certified Nurse-Midwife to join our team of seven midwives. Our CNMs provide full-scope practice for the management of pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecological care in deeply rooted collaborative practice. WSNM nurtures the midwifery model of care while maintaining a strong collegial relationship with our physicians. The selected midwife will provide first call responsibilities at Lovelace Women’s Hospital in Albuquerque. A combination of clinic and on-call hours make up a 40 hour week with post-call days off. Appropriate certification and licensure for practice in New Mexico required; experienced CNM preferred but will consider new graduate candidates with labor and delivery experience.

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Summary of Position Description:

Assist health care provider in a manner to assure quality and professional medical care to our patients.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Prepare patient for exam; take vital signs
  • Obtain urine sample and accurately perform urine dip;
  • Perform massage on coolsculpting patients;
  • Update the problem list; record exam information and lab results in the patient record;
  • Set up and assist the provider with procedures; obtain consent form signatures;
  • Assist in patient education by use of handouts;
  • Maintain and supply exam rooms;
  • Prepare next day charts;
  • Call patients for postpartum follow-up
  • Attain adequate computer skills in the practice management computer system
  • Maintain patient recalls in the practice management computer system
  • Mail pap smear report cards as appropriate
  • Work compatibly with all other departments and employees of WSNM
  • Complete Competency Testing (BP, Gestational Dating, Injections, Clean Catch UA, Pregnancy Testing)
  • Administer Injections
  • Review laboratory results in charts

Job Title: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist

Summary of Position Description:

A non-exempt position responsible for reviewing patient medical records, translating medical services into standardized codes, and submitting accurate insurance claims to ensure timely and appropriate reimbursement.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Reviewing medical records: analyzing patient charts to accurately capture diagnoses, procedures, and other relevant medical information for patient visits (to include Primary Care, OB/GYN), surgeries, and hospital billing.
  • Coding Procedures and Diagnoses: assigning appropriate medical codes (ICD-10 and CPT) based on the patient’s services.
  • Data Entry: inputting patient demographics, insurance information, and verifying coded data into EMR.
  • Claim Submission: generating and submitting electronic or paper insurance claims to various payers.
  • Scanning into EMR: corresponding documentation to include operative reports, deliveries, pathology reports, and any other hospital visits.
  • Maintain required billing records, reports, files, etc.
  • Assist account techs in appealing claims denied for coding issues.
  • Assist clinical staff with CPT and ICD-10 codes for office and laboratory procedures.
  • Provider education/resources for CPT and ICD-10 codes as needed.
  • Provide CPT and ICD-10 updates for staff and providers as they become available.
  • Review documentation as needed for patients/staff who question validity of codes billed.
  • Main contact with providers for coding issues.
  • Assist Business Office Manager with new provider orientation meetings.
  • Compliance with Regulations: staying updated on healthcare billing guidelines and regulations to ensure accurate coding and billing practices. Maintain CPC membership and CEUs.
  • File and maintain Federal Sterilization Consent forms. Have available for providers as needed. Liaison for completed consent forms for hospital.

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Degree or GED
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in charge entry; Certified Professional Coder credentials
  • One year knowledge of OB/GYN or other relevant coding specialty
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, CPT and ICD-10 coding
  • Requires a high level of attention to detail and knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems while interacting with providers to manage billing processes.
  • Strong customer service skills; good communication, decision-making and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently, but also a team player.

Job Title: Patient Service Representative

Summary of Position Description:

Responsible for efficient check-in and checkout processes to include polite, professional and caring interactions with patients. Accurate computer skills and assure appropriate collection of patient balances.

Primary Duties Include:

  • Assure good customer service (smile, eye contact, positive interactions, always listen to your customer)
  • Greet and check patients in and out in timely manner
  • Update personal and insurance demographics in computer
  • Follow-up on all computer system alerts
  • Collect co-pays and other balances due from patient
  • Enter all recall dates and resolve recall appointments
  • Schedule return appointments as needed
  • Balance collections daily; close batches in timely manner
  • Verify insurance information
  • Obtain insurance benefits for OB contracts
  • Write up OB contract and go over it with patients
  • Attain adequate computer skills in the practice management computer system
  • Work compatibly with all other departments and employees of WSNM
  • Stamp all out-going mail
  • Open, sort, and deliver all incoming mail
  • Maintain cleanliness in front lobby and reception area
  • Protect patients’ rights, follows HIPAA guidelines
  • Open and close procedure, monitor waiting areas and assure a safe clean environment for patients
  • Open the lobby at certain times (early) as needed
  • Travel to other locations as needed
  • Help respond to medical emergencies if necessary
  • Prepare superbills for Biote and sells supplements/supplies

Job Title: Triage Nurse

Summary of Position Description:

Responsible for evaluating and communicating, primarily by phone, patient needs with the use of protocols as available ensuring appropriate level of care.

  • Return phone calls in a timely manner
  • Administer injectables and provide educational material during nurse visit
  • Good communication with providers regarding patient’s care
  • Clear concise charting on each interaction with a patient
  • Excellent understanding of lab and procedure results
  • Attain adequate computer skills in the practice management computer system
  • See walk-in patients
  • Staple removal/wound care
  • Administer IV hydration
  • Schedule appointments

  • RN or LPN, preferably with OB/GYN experience
