Job Title: Certified Nurse Midwife         

Women’s Specialists of New Mexico currently has an excellent career opportunity for a full-time Certified Nurse-Midwife to join our team of five midwives. Our CNMs provide full-scope practice for the management of pregnancy, childbirth and gynecological care in collaboration with our OB/GYNs physicians. WSNM nurtures the midwifery model of care and has a strong collegial relationship with our physicians. The selected Midwife will provide call responsibilities at Lovelace Women’s Hospital. A combination of clinic and on call hours make up a 40 hour week with a post call day off. Appropriate certification and experience in the practice of midwifery required; new graduates may be considered. WSNM provides excellent benefits and a competitive salary.

Summary of Position Description:
Provide full-scope midwifery duties involving the management of pregnancy, childbirth, and gynecological care within the OB/GYN practice.

Qualifications:

  • Appropriate certification and licensure for CNM practice in New Mexico

CNM Primary Functions:

  • Review patient charts and stay updated on developments
  • Conduct prenatal appointments
  • Perform physical exams
  • Monitor laboring women, offering guidance, and pain management techniques
  • Provide postpartum care, including check-ups and breastfeeding support
  • Engage in administrative tasks such as documentation
  • Review test results and consult with other healthcare professionals
  • Participate in interdisciplinary meetings
  • Stay informed about changes in regulations and evidence-based practices

Additional Assignments:

  • Any other assigned duties as necessary or desirable by management

Physical Requirements:

  • Hearing, speaking and visual acuity
  • Sufficient physical strength to assist during labor and deliveries
  • May be required to stand, bend or reach for extended periods of time
