This amazing technology allows women to have relief of these symptoms without having to take medicine. No more messy vaginal creams, no more tablets to insert, no more worry if you are not allowed to take hormones.
The MonaLisa Touch enhances health and wellness for women which leads to a positive social experience. Women’s Specialists of NM is the first and only OB/GYN practice in New Mexico to offer this new therapy.
How does MonaLisa Touch work?
A probe is placed inside the vagina and from this probe fractionated beams of light penetrate small areas of tissue. This creates small wounds in the epithelial layer of the vaginal mucosa triggering fibroblast activity which in turn stimulates new collagen production.
When women become menopausal the vaginal mucosa becomes atrophied with the decreased levels of estrogen. This means there are fewer number of blood vessels, the mucosa (or lining of the vagina) is significantly thinner and more prone to trauma, and the pH changes which effects the normal healthy flora. This is why there is pain and irritation. The MonaLisa Touch revitalizes the cells in the vaginal tissue to correct these menopausal symptoms. Vaginal atrophic cells shed off and new healthy tissue is now present.
MonaLisa Touch treatment is with a series of three procedures spaced 5-6 weeks apart. Each individual procedure takes about 5 minutes and is virtually painless. There are NO SIDE EFFECTS and NO DOWN TIME. Even after the 1st procedure a large number of patients experience wonderful results. The protocol does confirm a series of 3 treatments is the most beneficial therapy. At the annual follow-up appointment, many patients showed continued relief, however there were some who did require maintenance or touch up treatment.
