WSNM and COVID-19

Women’s Specialists of New Mexico is reaching out to our patients with information on our response to the COVID-19 or Novel Coronavirus.

If you have an appointment, check in with our front desk, verify your mobile phone number and then go wait in your car. We will call you when it is time for your appointment. We ask that no one accompanies you to this appointment. Please wear a face covering to your appointment.

First, for up-to-date information on the developing situation in New Mexico, we are encouraging patients monitor the http://cv.nmhealth.org. Here you will find the latest official information on COVID -19 in New Mexico as well as guidance for self-protection. WSNM is checking this informational site daily and responding with appropriate measures.

We are also closely monitoring the New Mexico Department of Health website and the national website of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) COVID-19 webpage daily.

Second, we want to remind our patients that we take care of women’s health, providing emergent gynecological visits and prenatal care for pregnant moms. Unlike primary care or internal medicine clinics, we do not treat patients with colds and flu. If you need medical care for these conditions, please seek help from your family practice provider or an urgent care.

Our offices are open for scheduled OB-GYN appointments. However, if you have flu like symptoms, please do not come into our office. If you have a non-essential appointment and want to reschedule, please call our office at (505) 843-6168.  Similarly, our providers and support teams are not coming into the office if they have flu like symptoms. WSNM is doing daily temperature checks on all employees. Many non-clinical employees have opted to work at home.  Messages are being sent to patients who have scheduled appointments via our Vital Interactions system stating that if they have symptoms, to please call our office first. For the safety of your family, we are requesting family members not attend any appointments with you for the short term.

Each of us should follow these commonsense guidelines:

  • If you have flu-like symptoms or have been exposed to someone who has Coronavirus, do not come into our office.
  • If you have traveled out of state or out of the country in the last two weeks, do not come into our office.
  • We encourage everyone to avoid handshakes or physical greetings.
  • Please wear face covering to your appointment.
  • Use personal hand sanitation often and keep homes surfaces clean.
  • Avoid large gatherings of people.
  • Stay informed.

Here at WSNM, please know that our practice continues to use state of the art cleaning and sanitation products. We have confirmed with our janitorial company that they are using products which have been found to be effective against viruses such as coronavirus. As an extra measure, we are:

  • Providing hand sanitizer at all offices.
  • Intensifying our cleaning and disinfection protocols.
  • Using Clorox wipes on commonly used surfaces.

We are also offering telehealth appointments to our patients who do not need to be seen in the office. Please call our office at (505) 843-6168 to inquire about a telehealth visit.

We wish you wellness and I encourage you to contact me if you have questions or concerns at the e-mail address listed below.
